UKGC fines GGPoker £672K for AML and SR failures
The UK Gambling Commission has fined NSUS Limited
Only a couple of weeks since the UK Gambling Commission announced a fine for Betway, the UKGC has stated that another company is being fined for social responsibility (SR) and anti-money laundering (AML) failures.
The operator in question is NSUS Limited which trades as GGPoker and runs the UK version of this website. After receiving an official warning for the failures, the company has been fined £672,829.
Social responsibility failures
According to the UKGC: "Social responsibility failures included failing to identify customers who may be at risk of experiencing harms associated with gambling, and failing to interact with customers who may be at risk of experiencing harms associated with gambling."
NSUS Limited failed to take all reasonable steps to prevent any marketing from being sent to customers that had self-excluded themselves. It's estimated that over 125 self-excluded customers received marketing emails.
Anti-money laundering failures
NSUS Limited breached paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of the licence condition of Anti-Money Laundering with the decision being made on the 22nd of September 2022.
In response to this news, the UKGC stated: "Anti-money laundering failures included failing to conduct adequate risk assessments of the business being used for money laundering and terrorist financing, and failing to ensure they have appropriate policies, procedures and controls to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing."
The hard work of the UKGC
Since the delays of the upcoming White Paper, many have assumed that the UKGC would be idly waiting by for the results. However, the company has completely changed this perception as the organisation has been working even harder recently.
Within the past couple of months, the UKGC has cracked down on a whole number of organisations failing to abide by the rules and penalising those that break them. We're certain that the UKGC will continue this until the UK gambling industry is at the safest level it can be.
