Gaming Industry for Ukraine reaches £250K target
The iGaming industries efforts have surpassed the target amount
Earlier this month, the iGaming industry banded together to raise money for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Gaming Industry for Ukraine was launched by many different companies with the aim of reaching £250,000.
In a wonderful twist, the fundraiser has currently raised £253,225 with organisers extending the date to the end of March 2022 to see if more can be raised for the organisation.
What is Gaming Industry for Ukraine?
This is the general term used for all the iGaming companies that are contributing to this cause. There are big-name supports such as Bettson Group, Spribe OU, Oryx Gaming, Games Global, Microgaming, Funfair Games, Fast Track, FSB, Vixio, Enteractive, OLBG, SBC, Clarion Gaming, Just for the Win and Better Collective.
The overall campaign provides funding to Choose Love which is a registered charity that has the ability to target these donations to Non-governmental organisations supporting humanitarian efforts. They are in the process of granting aid to 23 organisations providing vital support to those in Ukraine.
Other companies within the iGaming world have started their own efforts to help Ukraine with Mecca Bingo hosting charity Bingo for the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.
Surpassed target “in just two weeks,” says SBC
One of the people behind the campaign Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC, said: “When we started this fundraising effort, I’m not sure we believed we would hit the target of £250,000. But the kindness and compassion of the gaming industry meant we surpassed that amount in just two weeks!”
He added: “Now we are kicking on and hoping to raise even more to help Choose Love’s humanitarian efforts for the people of Ukraine.”
“Proud to be a member of the gaming community,” says Better Collective
Co-organiser Shona ODonnell, Head of Strategic Events at Better Collective, added: “I’ve always been proud to be a member of the gaming community and never more so after seeing how they have got behind this campaign to send aid to Ukraine.
She concluded: “It’s been overwhelming to see the support from all sectors of the industry, both at a personal and company level.”
