Starting off with slots, you can go to the ‘Casino’ menu tab and then to ‘Video Slots’ to start your adventure. Once in the ‘Video Slots’ section, you can see that there are over 12,500 games available. It doesn't take a genius to work out that this would take you a very long time to scroll through, so I was very happy to find the addition of a search bar and a list of providers that you can filter by.
There are also a couple of other menu items such as ‘Megaways and Multiways’, but I would have appreciated some more helpful tabs, for instance, popular slot genres like mythology, fishing and gems. Having the option to filter by categories would be a welcome addition.
It also won't be much of a surprise to learn that you can find pretty much any slot you can think of at Merlin Casino. From classic 3-reel fruit machines to complex mechanics such as cascading reels and multiple ways to win, this collection spans every popular slot category out there.
At the top of the slots section, you'll find a ‘Most Played’ area, which currently includes popular titles such as Legacy of Dead and Book of Dead by Play’n GO, as well as the classic Starburst from NetEnt and the relatively new Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake by Pragmatic Play.
I skipped over to the ‘Megaways and Multiways’ section, which currently contains more than 200 games. Current fan favourites on offer include Mammoth Gold Megaways, Buffalo Mania Megaways and Rick and Morty Megaways.
As I said, this site would really benefit from more menus and search filters to help you discover new games, as a search bar is only good if you know exactly what you're looking for.
Overall, I was super impressed with the slot collection at Merlin, but I hope that the team decides to add in some extra filters soon to help players who may be a little overwhelmed by the size of this slots catalogue.
Live casino & other entertainment
It's not just slots on offer at Merlin! As you'd expect from any modern casino online these days, there's also an impressive live casino collection to enjoy, as well as other forms of entertainment.
You can jump to the dedicated ‘Live Casino’ tab, where you'll find a lobby full of all the classics, including multiple versions of blackjack, roulette and baccarat. You can also use helpful tabs such as ‘New’ and ‘Favourite Games’.
What I like about this particular live dealer collection is that you'll find the usual big-hitters from the industry, such as Evolution and Pragmatic Play, but also some smaller emerging stars of live casino technology, like Amusnet, Skywind and Ezugi. This made the collection of games here a lot more interesting than you might find at other sites.
In terms of other games, Merlin Casino really does cater to all tastes. You'll find Crash-style games in the ‘Crash & Fast’ section, as well as scratch cards, poker, and video versions of classic table games.
What impressed me most was that Merlin also comes with a comprehensive sportsbook and dedicated eSports page as well. You'll find a fantastic selection of domestic and international sports, leagues and matches to bet on, along with competitive odds and a decent range of markets.
In terms of eSports, all the usual offenders are here, including DOTA 2, League of Legends and CS:GO.
I said it once, and I’ll say it again – Merlin is here to play with the big boys of the industry, and as such, it has hit the ground running and offers a truly impressive gaming catalogue in one place.
