In addition to being the largest real-money online poker site in the world, PokerStars has a range of other offerings. An international site based in Ireland and founded back in 2001, this giant was largely responsible for the huge rise in the popularity of online poker in the mid-2000s. PokerStars still hosts more than two-thirds of online poker played around the globe.

PokerStars Casino is, in case you hadn’t already guessed, the casino branch of this popular site! This is where PokerStars demonstrates its versatility, offering much more than their name might suggest.

Exploring PokerStars Casino, I found a range of highly competitive bonuses, including several with no wagering requirements and no win limit, as well as numerous other exciting promos.

There are more than 1,000 games in the library, including plenty of popular titles, jackpot slots and live casino games. The site itself is well designed and pleasant enough to use, managing to be clean and aesthetically pleasing in an uncomplicated way.

Slots fans who overlook PokerStars because of the emphasis on poker are making a big mistake!

PokerStars has been owned by Flutter Entertainment since 2020 - Betfair being another major brand in this group. Flutter describes itself as “one of the most trusted and established companies in online gaming”, and it’s hard to argue with this. Flutter, which is the result of a big 2015 merger, possesses quite a few recognisable casinos and holds licences all around the world.

Whilst the visual design of the PokerStars Casino site isn’t exactly breaking new ground, I appreciate its simplicity. It’s more restrained and tasteful than some of the competitors’ sites, which can occasionally be a bit garish and busy-looking.

Some of the industry’s finest developers have their titles on PokerStars Casino, including Evolution, NetEnt, Pragmatic Play and plenty of other big players. There are also quite a few exclusives - more on this later.

PokerStars has multiple apps in both the App Store and on Google Play, with specific apps corresponding to the sports, poker and casino sections of the site. I’m personally happy with the mobile version of the browser site, which runs perfectly and enables you to access all areas of the site without downloading multiple pieces of software to your devices.

Serious and returning players might want to consider the desktop client which runs on both Mac and PC. This is likely to offer a more reliable and immersive experience, but is focused mainly on poker, and it’s poker players who stand to benefit the most from installing it.

Games

PokerStars is what happens when a betting site dreams big – with the exception of a bingo lobby, there’s virtually everything here.

The PokerStars Casino section is divided up into six tabs which give some indication of what’s on offer. The first is ‘My Casino’, which essentially serves as a sort of homepage within PokerStars Casino, containing featured slots across various categories, as well as highlights and a Game of the Week. Other tabs include ‘Slots’, ‘Live Casino’, ‘Races’, ‘Table Games’ and ‘Instant Win’.

Slots

By default, PokerStars’ most popular slots are displayed first, with plenty of familiar offerings like Big Bass Bonanza, Gonzo's Quest and Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways. The presence of some hefty jackpot slots and some good Megaways games here is also nice to see.

There aren’t a huge number of filters for sorting through the slots library, but players can easily reduce the list to ‘New’ games, ‘Jackpot’ slots, ‘Exclusive’ titles and ‘Megaways’ games.

Using these tabs or the search bar is highly advisable, or you might end up on a near-endless scroll through everything on offer.

The ‘New’ section contained 40 games at the time of writing, and it’s up to date, featuring only the most recent releases. I’m a fan of these categories, providing they’re well maintained, as they offer a good place to find something a bit different whilst demonstrating the operator’s commitment to remaining relevant and on the cutting edge.

Filtering the library to just jackpot games isn’t actually much of a reduction! There are more than 300 jackpot games spanning giant seven-figure network prizes and lots of smaller (but still substantial) jackpots. The most prominently featured are Jackpot King games.

Exclusives are a big deal for PokerStars too, with a number of tempting titles in this category, spanning new games, jackpots, Megaways and other familiarly-themed offerings. PokerStars certainly seems proud of its exclusives, with more than 150 for players to try.

Megaways fans aren’t being overlooked here, with just under 100 Megaways slots on offer, but Slingo gets notably less attention, with no dedicated tab and around 20 games according to the search function. This isn’t an issue for me personally, but Slingo is massively popular, and players may find themselves wanting a bit more variety.

Other games

The live casino section of PokerStars Casino fits nicely with the site’s straightforward layout and simple design. Games here include a few lesser-known PokerStars exclusives combined with live casino staples such as those from Evolution.

As you’d expect, the live section is well-equipped, with roulette, blackjack, baccarat, sic bo, game shows, and, of course, poker (although the majority of PokerStars’ poker is played on the dedicated poker section of the site, rather than within PokerStars Casino). There’s also a good range within each of these categories.

The ‘Table Games’ and ‘Instant Win' tabs are home to a decent range of RNG-based video titles and scratch cards, respectively. There’s nothing too unexpected about these selections, but there are some intriguing exclusives and a few multiplayer games for fans of these.

Beyond the casino section, there’s obviously plenty of poker available, with options for all sorts of players, whether you’re an experienced high-roller or a poker novice in need of a tutorial. There’s also an expansive sportsbook with a bold, clean layout and regular odds boosts.

Promotions & Rewards

PokerStars Casino evidently knows the value of wager-free promotions to players – they consistently offer great terms. Many of this site’s bonuses come with no wagering requirements or low wagering requirements, but it’s always worth checking the specific promo page to be sure.

The first thing I saw when landing on PokerStars’ site was a very generous-looking first deposit bonus. This will change over time, but new players can expect something quite enticing to draw them in.

Even beyond the beefy welcome bonuses, PokerStars Casino offers plenty of bonuses worth getting excited about.

Bonuses & Free Spins

Players opting in can benefit from the free-to-play Spin of the Day promotion. This essentially allows you to complete a weekly scorecard by spinning the Prize Wheel every day.

Each row on your scorecard corresponds to a prize, which you’ll be able to view once you've opted in. Once a row is complete, you’ll be awarded the displayed prize.

Prizes, which include free spins and cash prizes, can be won more than once per week, and scorecards will reset at midnight every Sunday. Cash is yours to keep, as are the winnings from your free spins.

Sunday Spins

The Sunday Spins Odyssey promotion gives players a weekly opportunity to claim up to 100 free spins by wagering on slots. Each £60 wagered equates to 20 free spins, so you’ll need to wager £300 to claim the full 100 spins, but expect no wagering on winnings and no withdrawal restrictions.

Stacks

Stacks are accumulations of ‘redemption points’ which can be earned by playing your favourite games at PokerStars Casino and progressing through six different levels, unlocking a new prize at each.

Each week Stacks are totted up and translated into cash rewards, with the top level awarding players up to £1,000. At the end of each week, your redemption points total will reset to 0, and you can start earning again.

All prizes won by cashing in your Stacks of redemption points are credited as cash, with no nasty wagering requirements or other restrictions. Stacks should produce a few added extra bonuses to supplement your sessions.

Races

PokerStars Casino has a ‘Races’ tab. Don’t confuse this with betting on actual races, as in the Sports section. This is essentially a player tournament based on winning stakes, with real-time leaderboards and some decent no wagering cash prizes which are instantly credited.

It’s free to register to enter a race, and the leaderboards reset regularly, so a couple of smart bets at the right time could result in a big boost to your overall winnings.

PokerStars supports a wide range of payment methods including Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, bank transfers, Neteller, Paysafecard, PayPal and more. This is a solid selection with plenty of options for those who prefer the less conventional payment methods. Canadian players will also be happy to see Interac available here too.

The standard minimum deposit is £10/$10, and there aren't any fees. Withdrawal limits seem to vary between the products, so please check these on the site.

Withdrawals are processed reasonably quickly, with certain debit card payments often being processed in under one hour. More sluggish methods may take several days, but it’s nice to see that PokerStars are doing what they can to expedite things.

Licensing & Regulation

For Ontario-based players, the site is operated by TSG Interactive Canada Inc - registered no. 1000044052. They are licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario under license No. OPIG1232716.

The rest of Canada falls under the jurisdiction of their Malta licence - MGA/B2C/213/2011.

Help & Support

The Help section, which serves the function of an FAQ page, is almost all-encompassing, with answers to the majority of issues that players might run into, helpfully arranged into categories with a search bar.

There aren’t many options when it comes to getting actual help. Exploring the site, I couldn’t find a phone number or email address, so I enquired via the chat and was told that “players can only contact us via chat”.

This seems a bit unusual, but the chat is available 24/7, which is definitely a big plus.
