Rainbow Riches Review
Everyone within the online slot community has heard of the Rainbow Riches series. It now boasts a huge array of slots filled with exciting ways to win, but what about the original? Developed by Barcrest, this 5-reels, 20 payline slots features a multitude of features to assist you. Not only that but it has a charming Irish theme that is beloved by many.
Despite being created in 2009, Rainbow Riches still looks good today. The background features a misty magical land with a bright rainbow in the background. It’s disappointing that it is static - but it doesn’t ruin the slot. Symbols on the reels are cute and fit in well with the Irish theme. From leprechauns to pot of golds, it has almost everything you’d expect in a slot like this.
Music wise - there is some music played throughout but it’s subtle. There is no overtop and obnoxious cliché Irish music. It’s more nuanced and thankfully bearable. Sounds from the slots aren’t too annoying either as they fit in with the theme. The sounds evoke whimsical and magical moments without the cringe. Honestly, for a game released in 2009 - it holds up better than some recent titles.
Honestly, it’s as easy as you can imagine. You spin and roll, plus all the minigames gives you directions as you play. The menus are all clear to see at the bottom of the screen with the spin button being highlighted in green whilst the autospin is to the far left highlighted in red. You can spin up to 100 autospin with the chance to cancel it at any time.
Sadly, the RTP is at a mediocre 95% which is below the average standard. It’s a medium volatility slot with the max win of 500x - which is not great. Obviously, you have to bear in mind that it was released in 2009 but it’s still abysmal. The saving grace are the mini game modes which can give you extra ways to win.
You can see why Rainbow Riches is truly iconic and how it kick-started one of the biggest franchises in slot history. Sadly, it’s not aged terribly well compared to other online slots. It’s fun for people who love nostalgic games or absolutely love Irish slots - but it may not be for everyone. For a more modern version, try out Rainbow Riches Pick ‘n’ Mix.
