The iGaming industry prepares for Safer Gambling Week 2021

Safer Gambling Week 2021 is set to be held both online and in land-based casinos from the 1st to 7th November 2021 with all of the iGaming industry coming together to raise awareness for it.

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), Bingo Association and British Amusement Catering Trade Association (Bacta) are joining forces to promote responsible gambling. Just last week, BGC launched its new safer gambling campaign, 'Take Time to Think', just in time for Safer Gambling Week 2021.

“Last year’s event was a huge success despite the pandemic and, with the prospect of betting shops and casinos being open when this year's takes place, I’m sure Safer Gambling Week 2021 will be even better,” said Michael Dugher, the CEO of the Betting and Gaming Council.

He further added: “Our members already demonstrate their commitment to safer gambling through things like increased funding for research, education and treatment, the whistle to whistle ban on TV betting commercials during live sport and strict ID and age verification checks.”

Last year's Safer Gambling Week had social media impressions reaching 19 million which is an increase of 19% from 2019. Safer Gambling Week encourages businesses to start conversations about responsible gambling with staff, customers, friends and family.

The Bacta CEO, John White, commented on the strategies advocated from the campaign and stated: “those tools continue to grow as we learn more about safer gambling and form part of our ambition to cement social responsibility at the heart of our offer to the consumer.”

All of the iGaming industry are coming together to promote responsible gambling and the event looks to make an even greater impact than ever before.
