The two groups are teaming up on a new programme

Just in time for Safer Gambling Week 2021, Gordon Moody and WhyUp have teamed up to create a gambling awareness programme to inform people on how to gamble responsibly and tips on how to avoid falling into addiction.

Gordon Moody are a gambling harm charity that offers treatment to those affected by gambling harm through retreat and counselling programmes. The two groups crossed paths when the co-founder of WhysUp, Mark Murray, completed Gordon Moody's residential treatment programme for gambling addiction back in 2013.

WhyUps is an organisation dedicated to reducing and resolving the devastating impacts that addiction has on people. The collaboration between Gordon Moody and WhysUp involves three sessions that are going to be delivered in Gordon Moody treatment centres from October 2021.

This programme will cover Murray's story involving his recovery journey and understanding his motives for falling into addiction. It'll discuss further raising awareness and promoting better health and wellbeing as well.

“We believe this collaboration gives the person the best possible chance of recovery,” says WhysUp

“The strategic priority for Gordon Moody is to develop the right partnerships with experts to deliver the best service that we can,” said Matthew Hickey, the CEO of Gordon Moody. “Working in collaboration with WhysUp is the first to ensure that we have the best-lived experience support for those who are in post-treatment recovery. This collaboration is vital to our success and I’m so proud to be working alongside Mark and the team at WhysUp.”

Mark Murray stated in regards to the team-up: “We believe that a joint approach gives people something more in treatment and extra support post-treatment. As a result, we believe this collaboration gives the person the best possible chance of recovery.”
